FAQ

  • Click on the “Sign Up” button on the home page to register for a free account. It’s under the image of a woman holding a recycling container. Registration takes less than 2 minutes.
  • Registered accounts may have several members as a way to share earned points.
  • Confirmed accounts are connected to addresses based on geo-spacing information. If you move, simply go online and update your account with your new address.
  • Each week, or bi-weekly, depending when your recycling cart is emptied at your curb or in the alley, your registered account will automatically receive points.
  • Users may login anytime 24/7 to redeem points for discounts from local businesses.

RECYCLING AND EARNING POINTS


Recycling Perks is a curbside recycling incentive program available in the cities listed here.

Each time your recycling container is emptied by the recycling truck on your scheduled recycling day, your account will be credited with points.

If you live in a service area that uses GPS technology (all Virginia cities, and Hollywood, FL), when the recycling truck picks up at your service address (your home) the hauler will send the longitude and latitude coordinates of the pick-up to Recycling Perks. Recycling Perks will then credit the account linked to those GPS coordinates with the points. That’s why you don’t need to enter your container number to your account, only your address.

 You may live in a service area that utilizes a device accessible to the truck driver who tracks recycling participation by clicking on your address if your container was picked up; your customer number and address are then sent to our system and the associated account will be credited for points. That’s why it’s important for you to enter your pick-up address into your account. If your address gets rejected by the website, please contact our customer service team via contact us so they may help update your account.

ADDITIONAL POINTS, PROMO CODES AND REFERRALS


Promo codes are codes provided by Recycling Perks that you can enter in order to receive extra points. Normally, you can find hidden promo codes on Recycling Perk’s Facebook page. You might also find them on our website, on our printed materials, and at local events that we attend.

If you have a promo code, login or sign-up and then go to “My Account”. At the bottom of the page, you will find a section labeled “Have a promo code?”. There you can enter your promo code to receive the additional points. Please note, promo codes can have an expiration date so be sure to enter it soon after to see it to make sure that you don’t miss the deadline.

The link that you send to a friend’s or relative’s email address is unique to your Recycling Perks account. You forward the link to whomever you want to encourage to sign up and when they click it and sign up, then you receive points for that referral. You will only get your referral points if the friend used your link to sign-up. If something went wrong, contact us through the Contact Us link at the bottom of the Recycling Perks web page and we’ll gladly help.

AUTHORIZED USERS


One account, just like one household, can have several users/inhabitants. That’s why you can add all of the people who live or work at the same address into one account. The users can then share the points earned. Simply log in to the account, and on the “My Account” screen, toward the bottom of the page, you will find a section called “Other Authorized Users”. There you can add users to your account. Authorized Users will have to create their own login and password. Once that is complete the authorized user will be able to access the shared account and shop for and redeem rewards with the accumulated points.

REDEEMING REWARDS


There are several options for redeeming rewards. Click on the REWARDS tab at the top of the page to be directed to the SHOP REWARDS page. From there, you can search for a business by name or the name of a specific reward, search for reward near you (great if you’re on a mobile device), search for rewards near your service (home) address, or filter to find just the right rewards for you. You can shop by category by selecting “click here to shop by category and city”. You’re also able to create customized searches for rewards that you want. Below you will find some tips on how to create those searches.

  • Use the search bar to search for a keyword.
  • Selecting All Rewards will display all of our rewards in all of our service areas.
  • Near Home will show rewards closest to the address on your account.
  • Near Me is best for shopping when on the go with your mobile phone. It’ll show you rewards based on your location!
  • You can click on “Click here to shop by category and city” to choose a category, a specific business, or service area. Make sure to click search when you’re ready for the results.

Please make sure that you are allowing pop-ups as the reward will open in a new window or tab.

If you are using Internet Explorer or AOL this may be the reason you’re not able to print the reward. We advise using Google Chrome as it works best with all the features of our site. You will also need a free download of the Adobe Reader software because the print to format is PDF.

  • After adding a reward to your cart select checkout on the “My Cart” page.
  • Then your redeemed reward will appear under “My Perks”.
  • When you’re ready to redeem on your phone tap “Redeem on phone”.
  • The next screen will need to be shown to the business so they can view the reward. They will then tap “Accepted by Retailer” in order for the process to be complete.

Did you know that if you have a mobile device you’re able to redeem rewards on your phone – no printing necessary? You can either shop for the reward entirely on your phone or shop on a computer. You’ll be able to redeem on your device by following the steps below.

After selecting “Checkout” from the “My Cart” icon, your rewards will now be found in “My Perks”. You will then be able to print or redeem the rewards on your mobile device.

Recycling Perks works with many local businesses to bring you a selection of rewards. Those businesses are given the opportunity to customize their rewards. This includes being able to set how many rewards users are allowed to redeem in total and/or per account. If you are unable to redeem any particular reward, simply look for the red alert box in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen for the alert messages.

Gifting a reward is easy and it can brighten someone’s day. Follow these steps to give a gift.

  1. Find the reward you want to gift, add it to your cart, and select “checkout”.
  2. Click on Other Actions and select “Gift to someone”.
  3. Enter the recipient’s name and email, and then click on “Gift This Reward”.

Everyone likes to receive a gift so make sure you enter the correct email address or they won’t receive it.

Recipients of a gifted reward will need to create an account if they don’t have one yet. After they have created their account, they’ll be able to view and print the reward.

PICK-UP REMINDER


To adjust your collection day reminders, first access your Recycling Perks account and follow the steps below to update your reminder:

●  Click on Add/Edit pick-up Reminders
●  Select the date of your next collection by clicking in the gray rectangle, the black arrow, or the calendar icon.
●  Check the box of the person you want to receive the reminder and click Save.

RECYCLING CONTAINER


Recycling Perks users are awarded points based on household participation, not on quantity. Regardless of the amount of items recycled you are given 25 weekly or 50 biweekly.

PASSWORD


Select the “forgot password” option, you will then be prompted to enter your email in order to reset your password and Recycling Perks will email you a link. Please make sure links are enabled so you can click the link. Otherwise, you’ll be able to copy and paste the link directly into your browser.

If you continue to have difficulty accessing your account, please email us at info@recyclingperks.com and we will reset your account and send you a manual Password Reset email.

RECYCLING OR POINTS MISSED


Recycling Perks is a residential incentive program that rewards residents for recycling. We are not the hauler who services or provides the recycling carts. Please contact your local recycling hauler.

We apologize that your points were not automatically awarded. The technology carried by the hauler’s trucks lift more than 1000 recycling containers per day, there are times when the equipment needs a minor repair or must be replaced. If you notice that your points have not been automatically awarded to your account, please send us an email to info@recyclingperks.com so we can review your account and work to resolve any issues that may exist. 

We are sorry to hear that Recycling Perks is not currently partnered with your local municipality or recycling hauler. We are making efforts to be in every city, however, the proper implementation of technology is needed to know which residents have truly participated in the curbside recycling program is still needed in some areas.

Please feel free to use any participation points you have been awarded and stay tuned for occasional opportunities to attend free events where you can earn points for community enrichment participation. You may contact your local representatives and request our program.
